Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), Chairman of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, died Monday at the age of 77 from complications following gallbladder surgery. Last Saturday, the 19-term congressman became the longest-serving House Member in Pennsylvania history.

President, Congressional Leaders discuss jobs and the economy

With the Senate expected to take up a jobs bill this week, President Obama is holding a meeting at the White House on jobs and the economy with a bipartisian group of congressional leaders. The President made breif remarks about the gathering and the leaders are also expected to have remarks.
